The Council of the doctoral candidate of the Faculty of History at the University of Warsaw
has the pleasure to invite doctoral students and junior researchers to take
part in:
The International Interdisciplinary Conference
“Order confronting problems of changing times”
that will be held on 7-8 June, 2013 at the University of Warsaw.
The notion of order is regarded by many scholars as
fundamental for every civilization. Its meaning goes far beyond the usual
visions of structures, norms and mathematical precision. This idea constitutes
the basis of all conceptual grids through which people describe the world, it
is reflected in language and other symbolic systems, in ideologies and social
practices, in the design and planning of space, in the management of time, in
history. The very process of producing scientific knowledge that always
together with ideas brings about postulates concerning symbolic orders is an
expression of ordering and rule-setting potential of every culture.
The conference is envisaged as a forum of discussion on the concept of order
including the widest possible range of its meanings. We invite scholars from
the disciplines of history, social sciences, law and related fields in the
humanities. We are particularly interested in innovative and interdisciplinary
approaches.
